The Renters Right Bill is a proposed legislation that aims to change renting rights through scrapping Section 21 ‘no fault’ evictions, making a register for landlords to give potential renters information to make an informed choice, introducing new grounds for possession for landlords who want to sell or move back in, and make it illegal to discriminate against those with certain circumstances e.g. low income, benefit claimants, people with children.
We collected client’s stories around their experiences of the private rented sectors, specifically research on Section 21 notices, rent increases and access to privately rented housing. Have a look at our findings in the attached report. We used this report to raise awareness of the bill, collaborate with others who are campaigning and push for the government to pass the bill to give tenants the rights they deserve.
