An asylum seeker entering the UK is usually housed in temporary accommodation by the Home Office. If the Home Office grants them leave to remain with recourse to public funds then they are given 28 days notice to quit the accommodation within which they must:
- Secure accommodation
- Secure an income, usually from benefits
Our R&C team are currently researching if this is too short a period of time and looking to see if there is detriment caused by this such as threatened or actual homelessness and poverty caused by delayed or lack of access to benefits.
